PCS General Contractors has become a construction industry leader since its inception in 1996 as a full-service provider of industrial, commercial and institutional design-build, tenant fit-up, construction management and facility maintenance services. With their team of dedicated professionals, they are committed to providing their customers across Eastern Ontario with the highest level of safety and quality, construction, facility management and technical solutions. PCS General Contractors offers more to their clients than the typical construction company. They provide the added benefit of having in-house engineering, facility management and on-site labour which enables them to complete the pre and post construction services often required by customers. Their in-house engineering and on-site labour teams ensure that clients’ projects are delivered on time and on budget. In addition, PCS’ facility management team ensures that a smooth transition is provided from the completion of construction to the operating of a facility. Unlike most general contractors, PCS has the capability to maintain a relationship with their clients following the initial construction by servicing their ongoing facility maintenance needs.

Summary of the Role

You will be a critical team leader for PCS as the organization looks to grow, scale and diversify their service offerings.

Reporting to the VP of Corporate Development at Power-Tek Group, the General Manager will lead the day-to-day operations of PCS, its general contracting and construction management division. You will leverage your in-depth knowledge of the overall construction process in order to be a true mentor to the team you lead with the goal in mind to drive accountability, ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget and result in a high level of client satisfaction. Your industry expertise, strategic business acumen and tenure in leadership roles will provide the foundation needed to ensure you balance your time accordingly across the management of employees, finance and administration, business development, project delivery and estimation oversight.

This is a newly-created role, one that requires you to have the confidence to hit the ground running and leverage your strong industry connections in order to help build out the business. More aggressively in your first 12 months and with a more balanced approach moving forward into the future, you will put a strong focus on engaging with PCS’ target customer groups such as landlords, property managers, facility managers, architects, designers and developers to ensure a strong pipeline of future projects.

It is critical that beyond your focus on business development, you take steps to thoroughly understand the organization, followed by the creation, implementation and oversight of a strategic business plan for continuous growth. You will bring the balance of embracing collaboration to work effectively with the VP on this plan, while also being able to step up and lead its execution on behalf of the organization. You will take a thoughtful approach upon entering this role with the goal in mind of nurturing what works within the business and building upon success from there while also providing insight into what can be improved upon. You will be trusted and given the opportunity to strengthen internal processes, systems and overall operations within the business..
