Skills & Experience

Designated Accountant

Likely from a public firm but more importantly you are a lifelong learner.

Hands-On Accounting & Finance Background

Experience in the manufacturing industry, likely in a Controller and/or Director of Finance role within a small to medium-sized company with consolidation experience.

Leadership

You lead by example and enjoy participating with your team by actively coaching and developing their skills.

Strong Communicator

Ability to interact effectively with and gain trust with a variety of stakeholders both internally and externally.

Summary of the Role

You will lead the company’s day-to-day financial activities of three legal entities which include manufacturing facilities, production and engineering, and sales across Canada and the US in addition to a research and development facility in Quebec. As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Finance will work directly with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Vice President of Operations of Element5.

As the leader of finance, you will manage all aspects of the company’s finance and accounting functions, while leading a team which includes accountants, clerks and third party service providers. You will train and coach the team, ensuring constant improvement on the accounting system, processes and procedures. You will be responsible for presenting accurate and timely financial information for the company, including weekly cash flow forecasts, monthly financial statements, timely board packages and complex analyses for this high-growth group of companies. You will manage all external vendors such as auditors and banking relationships. The complexity level of financial management will increase dramatically as the business scales, namely on the manufacturing side in 2021. In addition, you will also be responsible for managing the human resources function within the Element5 group.

Ultimately, the mission of the role is to maintain Element5’s financial function running seamlessly among all legal entities with an increased focus on the manufacturing side of the business moving forward into the future.
