As Director of Communications and Development, you will lead the communications and fundraising strategy of the Ottawa Food Bank. As an organization by the community and for the community, you will have the immense responsibility of raising over 95% of the revenue that enables the Ottawa Food Bank’s important work.

Reporting directly to the CEO, and working with the senior leadership team, you will have the opportunity to lead and direct all the fundraising efforts (over $12 million in donations plus $9 million in gifts in-kind) and the communication strategy for one of the most respected and established charitable organizations in Ottawa. You will help shape the strategic direction of the organization, as we enter our next phase of strategic planning to achieve our new long-term goals.

This is an exciting time to be a part of the organization. Our staff, volunteers, community partners, and strategic networks are committed to reducing poverty, making a long-lasting impact, and effecting real change in the lives of many in the nation’s capital. Over the past few years, the pandemic has brought food insecurity to the forefront of people’s minds. There is incredible momentum right now to make a systemic change so everyone in our city can thrive.

In these unprecedented times, you will have the opportunity to lead and inspire an experienced, close-knit team of nine that continually strives to perform at their best. Additionally, with a seat at the senior leadership table, you will have the opportunity to be both hands-on in building out the organization’s strategic planning initiatives, while also leading your team through the effective execution of those initiatives. You will be working closely with other departmental leaders to establish organizational pillars and help to further unify the organizational culture and meet the food demands in the city.
