Skills & Experience
Experience
Software architect or engineer with proven experience leading the design and development of scalable and secure Cloud-based SaaS platforms
Background
Strong grasp of principles and best practices for front-end web application architecture, design patterns and development
Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or any other related field, and will ideally have a Master’s degree
Technically Strong
Your comprehension of distributed systems, microservices architecture and event-driven architecture is superior
Software Expertise
Strong background utilizing cloud tools, and demonstrated experience in designing and building distributed software systems, including defining data structures and designing APIs
Performance-Driven
Highly proficient in performance tuning and optimization techniques for database systems and big data processing and understand relational and non-relational data storage technologies
Summary of the Role
Reporting to the head of SaaS platform development, the Senior Software Architect will be responsible for designing and overseeing the development of ORBCOMM’s SaaS platform, ensuring its scalability, reliability, security and performance requirements. In this role, you will lead the development team in designing and implementing the platform’s infrastructure, utilizing various bleeding edge technologies. You will be expected to be an expert at your craft, staying up to date with emerging technologies, trends and best practices in SaaS architecture so that you can incorporate them into your designs.
Your technical guidance and mentorship to development teams will be critical. Through your consultation with stakeholders, you will ensure the timely and accurate identification and resolution of performance issues to effectively optimize the platform’s performance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect and analyze business requirements in order to translate them into technical specifications. You will also work closely with the UI/UX and DevOps teams to ensure the successful deployment of technologies.
In this role, you will be stepping in to both complete current assignments and kickstart new projects, playing an influential role in making all products holistic to the market that ORBCOMM serves. Additionally, you will be provided the opportunity to modernize and standardize the current tech stacks in order to be the most efficient and effective.
