Leadership
As the CEO, your key responsibilities will include effective team leadership through collaboration, stakeholder management, fundraising, financial and human resources management, and the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic objectives.
Financial Stewardship
You will be instrumental in the financial stewardship of the organization through the maintenance and diversification of funding streams which includes strengthening key stakeholder relationships with the Federal government, corporate partners and donors across Canada.

For over 80 years, Experiences Canada, a national registered charity, has been helping young Canadians explore their country in ways they never may have imagined through reciprocal exchanges, forums, conferences and other opportunities to travel and connect with one another.
Each year, participating schools and youth organizations send groups of 10 to 30 youth between the ages of 12 to 17 on an exchange somewhere in Canada. Experiences Canada’s exchanges offer life-changing experiences that enable young Canadians to build personal skills and self-confidence, form new friendships, deepen their knowledge of a second language, other histories and cultures, and inspire them to become more actively engaged in their communities.
Skills & Experience
Business Acumen & Strategic
You have played a key leadership role in taking organizations to the next level of their evolution. You are a highly strategic, financially savvy and process-oriented individual that brings strong business acumen and has a proven track record in creating and executing on multi-year operational and strategic plans.
Communication & Relationship-Building
You will be comfortable communicating, ideally in both official languages, with a diverse range of stakeholders within both the private and public sectors. You are known as a highly trusted individual, connector and relationship builder based on your tenure in outward facing roles in the not for profit space.
Background
In addition to your operational expertise, you ideally will have a marketing, communications or fundraising background. You have demonstrated success executing diverse types of fundraising and bring strength in grant proposal writing. You will have deep experience in the creation and implementation of marketing and communications strategies that has led to increased funding and brand awareness.
Not-for-Profit Experience & Leadership
With the tenure you have in executive-level roles within not for profits, ideally on a national level, you have an expertise in Board governance and are confident in managing upwards with a high level of maturity, honesty and integrity. You bring a leadership style that is motivational, collaborative and inclusive but balanced with the ability to execute on critical business decisions.
Summary of the Role
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be responsible for providing inspirational leadership, strategic direction and full operational oversight. As the CEO, your key responsibilities will include effective team leadership through collaboration, stakeholder management, fundraising, financial and human resources management, and the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic objectives. You will be focused on furthering the mission and vision of Experiences Canada and formulating strategic initiatives that enhance the impact of the organization.
You will be stepping in at a pivotal time for Experiences Canada as the organization looks to build upon their in-person exchange program. You will create a strong measurable operational plan, and in collaboration with the Board, a strategic plan that will provide a path forward for the organization as it returns to travel. Through your internal and external analysis, you will have the opportunity to define what areas of the organization are operating well and where there are new opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
You will be instrumental in the financial stewardship of the organization through the maintenance and diversification of funding streams which includes strengthening key stakeholder relationships with the Federal government, corporate partners and donors across Canada. In partnership with the team, you will help define and oversee a fundraising and marketing and communications strategy that effectively shares the vision and mission of the organization.
As CEO, it will be critical for you to leverage your network and strong communication skills with critical stakeholders including school boards, educators, youth group leaders and parents. Experiences Canada is an intercultural youth exchange program that connects young Canadians to exploration and learning experiences within the nation. Through your leadership and expertise, you will increase awareness of the historical organization, illustrating its significance for youth, education, and Canada.
