Established in 1960, the Ottawa Gymnastics Centre (OGC) holds the distinction of being the oldest active not-for-profit gymnastics organization in Canada. From its modest beginnings, the OGC has experienced remarkable growth and is now recognized as one of the largest gymnastics clubs in Ontario. With an annual participation rate spanning various age groups, from infants to adults, the OGC takes pride in its diverse range of offerings, encompassing both recreational and competitive programs. The center benefits from a committed team of professionals who ensure the smooth operation of these programs, all within the expansive confines of their 22,000 square foot facility.

You will be responsible for organizing and executing various programs and events to engage participants and enhance community involvement. You are comfortable delegating, ensuring that tasks are appropriately assigned and executed, allowing you to focus on strategic priorities and roadmapping.

Summary of the Role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will assume a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations, and overall management of the organization. This leadership position encompasses strategic business and financial oversight, organizational development, stakeholder engagement, program management, and ensuring a healthy and engaged workforce.

In guiding operations, your paramount responsibility will be focused on spearheading the revival of the organization as it approaches its significant milestone of 65 years. Building upon the foundation of existing strategic plans, you will serve as the driving force propelling the organization into a new era of rejuvenation and expansion. This multifaceted endeavor will entail a detailed process of identifying key priorities and objectives, fortifying revenue streams and reserves to ensure financial stability, refining programs offered to maximize their impact and appeal, and addressing the organization’s culture to align with strategic goals and foster growth.

Key to this role is a present and engaged leadership style. Committed to building a positive and supportive culture you will work closely with members of the organization to break down silos while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment. Consistently offering guidance, motivation, and support to the team will be crucial in your role, where you will effectively address challenges and ensure a high standard of service for OGC members. Central to fostering growth will be your adaptable approach, which involves delegation, assessing risks, making operational adjustments, and monitoring progress.
