Skills & Experience
8+ years’ experience in the construction industry, ideally in Mechanical or Electrical, within a business development B2B role
High level of ambition and truly thrive off being a self-starter in order to contribute to the success of an organization
Strategic, entrepreneurial and critical thinking professional
Not afraid to roll up your sleeves, often managing multiple projects at one time
Summary of the Role
As Director of Business Development, and reporting to the VP of Corporate Development, you will be accountable for creating new client relationships, specifically for bringing in high quality bidding opportunities that result in securing new projects, maintenance contracts and service work for the company.
You will be a critical team member for Power-Tek as the organization looks to grow and scale through acquisition of new clients. This is a newly created role, one that requires you to have the confidence to hit the ground running and leverage your industry connections and knowledge in order to help build out the business.
The Director of Business Development will be responsible for promoting all Power-Tek services, General Contracting, Electrical, HVAC/R & Plumbing. This involves getting the company’s various services pre-qualified with potential clients, selling Maintenance Contracts, and getting the company invited to private, high probability bidding opportunities. You will leverage your knowledge of the overall construction process in order to identify business opportunities by identifying prospects and evaluating their position in the industry. You will work to develop, maintain, and expand business relationships with external stakeholders including developers, property owners, landlords, leasing agents, facility managers, property managers, designers, architects, engineers and general contractors. You will actively develop upstream leads and opportunities and will ensure to manage them through to close, creating, presenting, and responding to proposals for specific customer requirements, including request for proposal responses and industry-specific solutions while working with the estimating teams for each service offering.
It is critical that beyond your focus on business development, you take steps to thoroughly understand the organization, so that you are prepared to assist with the development of a strategic growth plan.
