Skills & Experience

Experience

10+ years of relevant business experience (5+ years at a senior level)

CPA Designation

You will hold a professional accounting designation

Background

In-depth experience in fund accounting and a strong knowledge of all levels of accounting concepts

Sector Experience

You will ideally have experience in the not-for-profit/charitable sector

Summary of the Role

As an executive team member and essential partner, the CFO will support the strategic execution of all three organizations and provide both oversight and hands-on engagement in the delivery of all financial services. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of the Jewish Federation of Ottawa, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is the primary financial support through a shared service model to three organizations: Jewish Federation of Ottawa, Ottawa Jewish Community Foundation and Soloway Jewish Community Centre.

This is a role that requires a strong desire to work in a fast-paced environment as you will be supporting multiple entities and leading a team of seven finance professionals. You will be responsible for financial performance optimization and the development of timely, detailed and accurate financial forecasts, budgets, and reports for all three organizations, while ensuring that the management teams and boards of each organization have the financial information and analysis required for critical decision making.

As the CFO, you will identify and develop strategies for operational efficiencies and work closely with leaders to prepare and manage budgets and lead audit consolidation. You will continually review the team and department performance, with a focus on systems and processes that support the overall organizational performance. You will drive performance through a collaborative and team focused approach, to ensure the strong financial stewardship of all three organizations.
