OCF is entering an important phase of growth and evolution. As part of this evolution, the organization is creating a new senior leadership role that will help shape how the Foundation understands local needs, identifies priority areas, strengthens stakeholder relationships, and mobilizes philanthropic resources toward meaningful and measurable social change.

We use AI-powered tools (such as Fathom, Gemini, and Monica) to support certain administrative aspects of our recruitment process, such as interview note-taking, transcription, and summarization. These tools are used to improve efficiency and consistency. All AI-generated outputs are reviewed by a qualified recruiting professional, and all hiring decisions are made by humans. We do not use AI for selection purposes but do utilize AI powered search functions (Microsoft/Google) to help identify candidates on behalf of our clients.

Skills & Experience

Experience

With experience interpreting data, evaluating local needs, and translating research and stakeholder insight into practical priorities and action plans, you are comfortable helping organizations make more informed and practical decisions.

Background

With a background rooted in public policy, social sciences, public administration, community development, business, or another related field, you bring strategic perspective, sector awareness, and the ability to turn insight into practical and actionable strategies.

Relationship-oriented

You have experience building relationships across diverse groups, including charitable organizations, funders, governments, sector leaders, and other partners, and understand the importance of diplomacy, empathy, and thoughtful engagement in building momentum around shared goals.

Strategic

You are equally comfortable operating strategically and tactically, with the ability to connect high-level priorities with practical execution and translate information into clear insights, recommendations, and action.

Analytical

Navigating interconnected policy, funding, and societal issues has allowed you to balance relationship-building, prioritization, and analytical decision-making throughout your career.

You are highly collaborative and bring strong credibility with external stakeholders.

Summary of the Role

As a newly created leadership role, this position will play a central role in advancing the Foundation’s evolving strategy by helping the organization move toward a more proactive, data-informed, and results-oriented approach to sector leadership and philanthropic investment.

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President, Community Impact will provide leadership for OCF’s granting, stakeholder engagement, and community intelligence functions. Working closely with internal leaders, donors, charitable organizations, governments, and sector partners, you will lead the Foundation’s efforts to better understand the interconnected social issues affecting Ottawa and identify where philanthropic resources can drive the greatest long-term improvements. This role will oversee the Foundation’s granting function while also building the organization’s capacity to assess local needs, interpret data and trends, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and help shape priorities across key issue areas.

You will lead the development of a stronger intelligence and reporting framework for the organization, including advancing reporting initiatives, identifying priority areas informed by data and stakeholder engagement, and helping the Foundation better understand where targeted funding and collaboration can create meaningful change. This role will also help strengthen the Foundation’s ability to convene organizations, funders, and public- sector partners around shared priorities, supporting collaborative approaches to advancing progress across the region.

In partnership with the philanthropy team, you will act as a key resource to support donor conversations and investment strategies by providing insights into emerging issues, sector trends, priority areas, and organizational effectiveness. You will also contribute to the development of the Foundation’s broader advocacy and sector leadership efforts by helping shape issue-based perspectives, stakeholder engagement approaches, and initiatives aligned with the organization’s mission and long-term objectives.

As a member of the senior leadership team, you will help ensure that the Foundation’s granting, engagement, and related initiatives are aligned with broader organizational priorities and growth objectives. You will work collaboratively across the organization to strengthen the Foundation’s visibility, effectiveness, and long-term role as a trusted convener and partner within the charitable and philanthropic sector.
