Summary of the Role
As the Vice President of Sales at Element5, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth and overseeing a diverse sales team focused on project, commodity, and custom product verticals, as well as overseeing a project management team. With a project team often working on long close cycles and a commodity sales team dealing with high volume quick turnaround business, you will be balancing diverse customer and employee demands.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and the Vice President of Operations, you will establish key performance indicators and revenue targets while scaling human capital effectively. Your leadership will be critical in fostering collaboration between sales and engineering, particularly with the costing and estimating team, to ensure the timely delivery of customized proposals and accurate quotes for potential clients.
In this strategic position, you will plan, direct, and evaluate all sales activities while building strong relationships with channel partners and resellers. You will oversee the marketing team to ensure they create and disseminate valuable content that educates target audiences, thereby enabling the sales team to thrive. Your focus will be on transforming the sales department from a broad-based approach to one that emphasizes precision in pipeline management and execution, ensuring that the team is equipped to achieve the organization’s ambitious growth targets.
As the VP of Sales, you will be responsible for maintaining momentum in the engineered wood products business while expanding domestic sales capabilities. Crucially, you will lead the initiative to build out the commodity sales teams and channel partners, ensuring a delicate balance between production capacity and market demand. This role requires a proactive approach to overhauling existing sales and order processes, ultimately aiming to fill production capacity through a robust supply distribution channel across Canada and the U.S. Your leadership will be integral to enhancing the sales department during this transformative period, aligning efforts with the organization’s strategic objectives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
In addition to the core responsibilities, you will need to navigate a highly complex and niche market, particularly in the engineered wood sector. This role demands a deep understanding of the supply chain and technical sales processes, as the incoming leader will be tasked with developing a residential-centric strategy that is largely a new segment for Element5. You will be responsible for driving the go-to-market strategy for new product lines, ensuring that the domestic glulam line scales effectively while leveraging supply from Element5’s new parent company while production capacity scales at the Canadian plant. Furthermore, your ability to analyze market trends and customer needs will be crucial in identifying opportunities for innovation and growth, ultimately positioning Element5 for continued growth.
