Pallium Canada is a national registered charitable and social enterprise dedicated to building professional and community capacity to help improve the quality and accessibility of palliative care in Canada.

Founded in 2000 with a goal to expand access to, and quality of, palliative and end-of-life care services for Canadians, Pallium has now grown into a community of clinicians, educators, researchers, carers, administrators, volunteers, Indigenous leaders, and citizen advocates working together to accelerate the integration of palliative care in Canadian communities and health care systems.

Pallium has been effective in transforming health care practice with their award-winning and interprofessional Learning Essential Approaches to Palliative Care (LEAP) courses, Canada’s leading courseware on palliative care for health care organizations and professionals. With a suite of over 20 courses, LEAP equips a diverse range of frontline health care professionals with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills to help provide palliative care to patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses with more timely and effective palliative care.

Pallium works closely with hundreds of partners, health systems, and supporters to advance the integration of palliative care into Canadian communities and health care systems. Skills & Experience

Expertise

Expertise in modern learning methodologies, AI applications in education, and digital learning platforms is essential, along with proven leadership skills to develop and execute on strategic initiatives while inspiring and guiding others.

Education

You bring at least 10 years of experience in adult education, ideally within the healthcare space and possess a degree or higher in Education, with a focus on adult education, Healthcare, Healthcare Administration, Palliative Care, or a related field.

Background

While a deep knowledge of palliative care and healthcare practices is preferred, it is essential that you have experience implementing innovative educational solutions and technologies.

Necessary Skills

Strong planning, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities are required as you will need to liaise with professionals across the healthcare sector.

Proven Track Record

As a leader you are forward-thinking and have proven experience aligning educational practices with a strategic vision.

Collaboration

You will need to be collaborative and strategic in your execution as you balance the healthcare education landscape and the evolving needs of learners with the introduction of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.

Summary of the Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President of Learning is a strategic leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the vision for educational programs in palliative care training. This position focuses on leveraging and integrating advanced learning technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance educational delivery and outcomes. The role demands visionary leadership in developing innovative curricula, ensuring program quality, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders such as healthcare professionals, educational institutions, and technology partners to advance the organization’s mission.

As the Vice President of Learning your role will include the design and implementation of evidence- based, technology-enhanced curricula, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, and applying modern pedagogical practices like competency-based education, simulations, and AI-driven development and management of digital learning platforms, continuously evaluate program effectiveness with data-driven insights and integrate emerging technologies to improve accessibility, learning outcomes, and healthcare delivery. You will work with a team of educational professionals and subject matter experts to foster innovation, and maintain cutting-edge expertise in education and palliative care.

As the Vice President of learning, you will develop and execute a strategy that will continue to position the organization as a leader in healthcare education.
