Summary of the Role
Lightenco offers a full turnkey solution to commercial, industrial and architectural clients across Canada. As Director of Operations, reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for the execution and delivery of projects with their clients in different geographies.
Overarching responsibilities of the Director of Operations will be to oversee, direct, and manage all day-to-day operations and operational planning when it comes to project execution. It is essential that you take hold of the operational reins and balance the varied duties associated with the role, efficiently, in order to establish a smooth functioning unit. You will manage and hold accountability for the operations team, electricians, and subcontractors. It is critical that you provide and maintain clear communication, while setting well-defined expectations.
From project preparation to post-job synopsis, you will be relied upon to guide the installation process, by delegating, managing, and problem solving for both technical and personnel matters. You will be pledged with handling all logistics such as scheduling onsite staff, coordinating vehicles, and booking hotels and equipment necessary for a successful installation. This includes the maintenance of safe, efficient, and clean operation of all company assets. Given the broad range of project locations, you will need to travel to various sites across southern Ontario. You will be entrusted with the autonomy to make critical decisions and address efficiency gaps to improve performance results. Excellence in service is of utmost importance, and it is imperative that through everything you do, you work to maintain and exceed the high level of quality and customer satisfaction that exists within the LightenCo brand.
You will be tasked in measuring project performance and providing critical feedback on areas of both success and improvement. In order to do this effectively, you will play a critical role in rolling out a system to adequately evaluate projects by quantifying and qualifying contributions as it relates to the completion of installations. This is inclusive of finding and instituting a project management system to aid with gauging and tracking key performance indicators within the team. It is worth mentioning that this is not a bureaucratic organization, and things can be implemented fairly quickly. If you see an opportunity for process enhancements or additional procedures that would be beneficial to the team or organization as a whole, it is expected that you will bring ideas to the forefront and work to implement these.
Effective leadership of your team is a key aspect of this role and work vigorously to build an effective, collaborative, and high performing operations team. On a daily basis, you will be expected to thoughtfully guide, motivate, and provide support to your team, assisting them with any issues that may arise, as well as maintaining an exceptional level of quality. All staff are different and you must be adaptive in your approach to leadership, acting as a calming influence within the team. In addition, you will work closely with key resources across the organization, while maintaining applicable external partnerships.
