Leadership Role

You will manage and direct the security systems, networks, servers, user devices, storage systems, backup and recovery systems, data communications, and more, while measuring and improving service delivery based on established standards, policies, and procedures. In addition, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing IT security and infrastructure services across the organization. You will manage a team of three and will focus on enhancing the culture within the IT team.

Strategic & Operational

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will provide critical thinking in supporting the strategic direction of the organization and develop tactical steps to ensure corporate success. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the IT department, managing IT security and infrastructure, providing technical support, overseeing technology projects, managing vendor relationships, staying current with industry trends, and providing leadership to the IT team.

Vendor Management

Vendor management will be critical to your success as you will own the relationships with key third party partners and negotiate agreements with new and existing vendors. This includes evaluating and recommending vendor software that supports the strategic objectives of YourCU, while ensuring that risk management best practices are applied to all key vendors.

Skills & Experience

Background

With a background in computer science or a related field, you will have knowledge in areas such as cybersecurity and privacy, platform management, and infrastructure.

Communication

Excellent communication skills are a must, and you feel comfortable presenting to customers, executives, and internal audiences.

Experience

You have experience with regulatory compliance, auditing, and risk management, as well as contract and vendor negotiations. Your in-depth knowledge of intrusion detection systems, security access authorization, firewalls, security audits, network penetration testing, authorization issues, and protection strategies will enable you to effectively safeguard the credit union’s IT systems.

Financial Service Sector

Having prior experience in a financial institution, credit union or in the financial service sector will be an asset, as it will provide you with an understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of the financial industry. Your expertise in cybersecurity, IT service and infrastructure will make you a trusted source of information and guide on all IT matters for YourCU.

Leadership

Your leadership will be crucial in this role, as you will serve as a mentor, strategic advisor,, and trusted manager for your team. You will effectively communicate and translate the vision, goals, and purpose for IT to the organization, and lead change initiatives while creating an open and receptive environment.

Collaboration

Your hands-on approach enables you to effectively collaborate with colleagues, leaders, and vendors, leveraging and servicing connections as required. You are an articulate and persuasive leader who is able to communicate IT concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical individuals.

Summary of the Role

As the Director of Information Technology, reporting directly to the President and CEO, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the IT operations of the organization. Your role will involve ensuring that the IT department provides efficient and effective technical support services to the entire organization. This includes managing and directing the security systems, networks, servers, user devices, storage systems, backup and recovery systems, data communications, and more, while measuring and improving service delivery based on established standards, policies, and procedures. In addition, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing IT security and infrastructure services across the organization. This includes monitoring and maintaining security and infrastructure platforms to optimize system security and performance. You will also monitor security policies, procedures, and risk mitigation across all branches and corporate locations to ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulations.

Your role will require you to be hands-on, occasionally visiting branches and providing technical support for issues, repairs, and installations. You will oversee and actively manage the implementation of key technology and IT projects aimed at protecting member data, promoting digital banking, and ensuring staff and organizational agility. Vendor management will be critical to your success as you will own the relationships with key third party partners and negotiate agreements with new and existing vendors. This includes evaluating and recommending vendor software that supports the strategic objectives of YourCU, while ensuring that risk management best practices are applied to all key vendors.

Staying current with industry trends and innovations is essential in this role as technology is ever-changing. You will conduct research and remain knowledgeable about the financial services industry’s dynamic landscape, including leading-edge digital solutions, open banking, payments modernization, and key stakeholder strategic directions. This knowledge will help the organization stay at the forefront of IT advancements and make informed decisions.
