Skills & Experience

Engineering Education Educational background in either
Building Information Modeling Competence with drawings, modeling and detailing
Aligned Value Set Entrepreneurial and passionate about sustainability/the environment
Strength in Technical Design Work from concept to manufacturing and assembly
Technologically Savvy Interested in leveraging techniques/technologies as they arise
Mass Timber Experience and/or keen interest in this construction

Summary of Role

Candidly, you will be developing a concept which is suitable for manufacturing and assembly, with an emerging supplier who is creating the new playbook for mass timber fabrication across Canada. Element5 are undergoing extensive growth and scaling at exceptional speeds. With the expectation of a 10x on project volumes in the next 6 months, they are expanding their design engineering group to support the anticipated demand. Ultimately, Element5 is in the process of building common platforms to ensure future growth in a sustainable and efficient fashion. With their design requirements including the full spectrum from conceptual designs through to manufacturing, fabrication and installation, they offer a truly unique proposition for a design engineer to undertake.

Your stakeholders will typically be engineers but may also include landowners, general contractors, design and architecture firms, in addition to institutions and corporations. It is anticipated that the sweet spot for these projects will be 4-8 storey buildings in the $5-8M range that include banks, restaurants, hotels, custom homes, mid-rise developments, multi-unit residential buildings, offices, mixed-use buildings and institutions. They will partner with other organizations for larger projects and the role you play on the design side will be crucial to success in these projects..
